Lukiškės Square

Just opposite the KGB museum you may find an empty ex-Lenin square which is now a favourite place of artists and lonely lovers. Two of Gintaras Didžiapetris’ works reference this square, while Deimantas Narkevičius’ Once in the XX Century (2004) features the re-erection of Lenin monument in the same square. The monumental essence of the square is best defined by Robert Henke (also known as Monolake) who describes the emptiness of ex-Lenin square in Vilnius as ‘a perfect monument to nothing’. VK, 2009
