The highest building in Lithuania (326 m), at the time it was built, the TV Tower had the longest elevator shaft in the world to be operated by women. It is still operated by women and it still has the old observation deck (160 m high) that houses the café Milky Way. This café still possesses its old title but, unfortunately, not the interior. Moreover, the café sports a rotating platform that revolves once every 45 minutes, the exact amount of time Vilnius-based artist Darius Žiūra used to make a video of Vilnius panorama in the very same place. On bright days, one can see as far as Elektrėnai, a city approximately 45 km west, where the power plants produced much of the electricity for Vilnius in the Soviet times. Deimantas Narkevičius made a film about this town and it is called Energy Lithuania (2000). The same artist used TV Tower’s lobby as the location for his later film Revisiting Solaris (2007). VK, 2009
